Shift Maintenance Electrical Technician

Talent STEM are partnering with an established manufacturing business in Newcastle to recruit an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join their site engineering team.
This is a hands-on maintenance role within a 24/7 manufacturing environment, focused on keeping production equipment running safely and reliably through planned maintenance, fault finding and reactive engineering support.
We are particularly interested in speaking with experienced electrically biased engineers who have worked within manufacturing, chemical, process or other industrial environments.
The Role
You will be responsible for:
- Planned and reactive electrical maintenance across production equipment and site machinery
- Electrical fault finding and breakdown diagnosis
- Repairing and maintaining industrial electrical systems, motors, drives and control equipment
- Supporting PLC fault finding and diagnostics
- Assisting with equipment installation, modification and commissioning
- Identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime
- Recording maintenance activity through the site CMMS
- Working safely within permit-to-work, isolation and LOTO procedures
- Supporting wider engineering and continuous improvement projects
What We're Looking For
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience in an electrical maintenance role within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- A recognised Electrical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent technical qualification
- Strong electrical fault-finding skills
- Experience working with industrial machinery, electrical control systems and schematics
- 18th Edition electrical qualification or relevant practical experience
- CompEx certification or experience working within hazardous-area environments would be highly advantageous
- Experience with PLC-controlled equipment, ideally Siemens
- Knowledge of AC/DC drives, Profibus or Profinet would be beneficial
- A practical, hands-on approach to engineering and maintenance
The key requirement is solid industrial electrical maintenance experience. Candidates with experience from chemical manufacturing, process manufacturing or other hazardous industrial environments are particularly relevant.
